A YOUNG singer who was partially blinded in an accident at work has a glittering musical career ahead of him after being taken under the wing of Fleetwood Mac star Mick Fleetwood.

Dan Owen, 20, from Shrewsbury was spotted online whilst performing at a blues festival by Fleetwood Mac legend Mick, who tracked the young artist down and offered to help with his career.

Dan, who is partially sighted after an accident at work, will now jet to Nashville to record an album with Grammy winning producer Vance Powell.

The Brit singer, who is known as Blues Boy Dan, has been feted on YouTube – where his video has attracted over 400,000 hits – for his unique gravel-voiced lyrics and stunning guitar playing.

Dan, pictured above with Mick, was working as an apprentice carpenter when a wood chip flew out of a machine and blinded him in one eye, but he has refused to let he accident get in the way of his music.

Mick Fleetwood said: “Dan’s music is from the heart — it is genuine blues and Dan is at the forefront of the new wave in British singer-songwriter talent.”

Dan added: “This is like a dream a come true. It just shows that the power of the internet is amazing. I’ve been inundated from people contacting me from all over the world.

“Mick has been a real help, a real mentor. It was amazing to meet him. At first I thought it was someone else. I knew of Fleetwood Mac but I thought it can’t be him — it was. The first thing he said to me was ‘I feel like I know you already’. We really got on.”
