TOURISTS gawped in amazement yesterday as a 50ft rubber duck floated up the River Thames.

Sightseers must have thought they’d gone quackers when the giant yellow inflatable sailed out of East London’s docks, beneath the sky-scrapers of Canary Wharf.

The big bird then made it’s way up river through the iconic Tower Bridge, which was specially raised to allow it through. The daft scene was due to a publicity stunt by by online bingo company Jackpot Joy.

The big rubber duck reportedly weighed half a tonne and berthed itself next to HMS Belfast opposite the Tower of London.

Jackpot Joy were promoting a new £250,000 FUNdation grants pot for good causes – details of which can be found on Facebook.

Former EastEnders actress Barbara Windsor, who appears in the company’s telly ads as a Fairy Godmother, said: “The rubber duck definitely raised a smile and a chuckle from everyone who saw it!”
